?I have to remain number one that's a lot of work. I made it to the top and now I have to stay on top. I'm competing against other people in the state- that's a lot of pressure,? Trappier said.

?I feel excited. I like to wrestle against good competition, but I wrestle every match just like any other,? Rapley said.

Trojan Head Coach Kareem Sanders is also excited. Sanders believes his guys can match up with the state?s best.

Passages like these have been bouncing around the Internet for years. But how do we read them? And what do our incredibly low standards for what's legible say about the way our brains work?

    4. Dogs understand us better than chimps do

According to Marta Kutas, a cognitive neuroscientist and the director of the Center for Research in Language at the University of California, San Diego, the short answer is that no one knows why we're so good at reading garbled nonsense. But they've got strong suspicions.

"My guess is that context is very, very, very important," Kutas told Life's Little Mysteries.

We use context to pre-activate the areas of our brains that correspond to what we expect next, she explained. For example, brain scans reveal that if we hear a sound that leads us to strongly suspect another sound is on the way, the brain acts as if we're already hearing the second sound. Similarly, if we see a certain collection of letters or words, our brains jump to conclusions about what comes next. "We use context to help us perceive," Kutas said.

It's not a perfect system, however. In the above passages, Kutas suspects that you probably didn't get every single word right just from knowing what came before it. You only thought you were reading the passage perfectly, because you automatically (and subconsciously) went back and filled in any gaps in your knowledge based on subsequent context ? the words that came later.

Additionally, in the case of the first example (the words with jumbled middle letters), it helps that your brain processes all the letters of a word at once, rather than one at a time. Thus, the letters "serve as contexts for each other," Kutas said.?

In the case of the second passage (with the numbers in place of some letters), a 2007 study by cognitive scientists in Spain found that reading such passages barely activates the brain areas that correspond to digits. This suggests that the letter-like appearance of the digits, as well as their context, has a stronger influence on our brains than their actual status as digits.

The researchers think some sort of top-down feedback mechanism (our consciences telling our sensory processors what to do, sort of) normalizes the visual input, allowing us to ignore the funny bits and read the passage with ease.

LAF/Beautiful Womanhood ? Unnatural Selection

Posted By Jennie Chancey on February 8, 2012

From Mercatornet:

A book by a pro-choice feminist faces up to an unintended consequence of the West?s fertility war. This brave and timely book has many strengths and one glaring, but understandable, weakness. The strength of this book is the reporting. Mara Hvistendahl, a liberal, pro-choice feminist, painstakingly documents the catastrophic consequences of the worldwide ?choice? for male babies: gender imbalance leading to prostitution, sex slavery, and male frustration and aggression. The weakness of this book is the political analysis. She doesn?t understand how deeply Roe v. Wade changed American political culture, particularly within the conservative movement broadly conceived. But both these strengths and weaknesses work together to yield an honest and courageous book that should be read by anyone who considers himself (or herself) well informed?.

The consequences of the gender imbalance brought on by the Western war on fertility expose its bare brutality. French demographer Christophe Guilmoto estimates that roughly 163 million baby girls are missing in the world today. This is approximately the population of women in the United States. This magnitude of a sex-ratio imbalance means that when all these little boys grow up to be men, there will not be enough women for them all to marry.

Read the full piece at THIS LINK. (Not for young readers.) Men and women are both created in the image of God, so selecting girls for extermination violates their God-given right to life. I?m glad to see a feminist facing up to this reality, which has been the result of abortion-on-demand and the often violently enforced one-child policy in China.

In case you have a dry itchy scalp, you know what an unpleasant experience it might be. Sufferers complain of their scalp being scratched till their head bleeds, or maybe these people experience baldness. Whether the signs are caused by contact dermatitis, sebhorrheic dermatitis, head lice or something different, all you need is comfort. The great news is that as irritating as well as embarrassing as your symptoms may be, there are actually many remedies which can help.

The key factors behind dry itchy scalp are generally contact dermatitis and seborrheic dermatitis. Contact dermatitis is actually an acute problem; it?s irritation attributable to the contact with an irritant or an allergen. Although it could cause great irritation, if you?re able to know what triggered it in that case you won?t need to worry about it coming back, plus the signs can be cured having a topical remedy or even an anti-histamine if it?s an allergic reaction. Common factors behind contact dermatitis are generally fragrances and chemicals in hair shampoo. If the problem is caused by lice, the ick aspect is countered by the fact that it is easily remedied. Shampoo with tea tree is particularly good at getting rid of these kinds of parasites, not to mention washing with this organic shampoo is much safer for you as well as for your kids as compared to using a chemical treatment. If your dry scalp is considered the response to an even more serious situation, it is probably a case of seborrheic dermatitis. This particular problem is characterized by scales and flakes which build up on the hair scalp and itch. The build up tends to make the hair appear oily as well as trigger humiliation over unpleasant dandruff on your clothes. This particular situation is caused by an overgrowth of a fungus called P. Ovale. Even though nobody is sure what can cause this too much growth, there is some proof of genetic bearing; stress and even food intake are additionally considered to contribute. There is no recognized remedy for the problem, yet the good thing is there are certain helpful dry scalp home remedies available.

The goal of any dry scalp treatment would be to sooth the discomfort and eliminate the source. If the dry scalp is attributable to the contact with heat, blow dryers, or artificial hair treatments, a hydrating treatment is the optimum solution. Warm olive oil or honey massaged on the scalp can work miracles, just like yogurt, or even a mask made from oatmeal applied on the scalp and left to rest for approximately fifteen minutes. Precautionary measures include preventing burning hot water in the shower and using moisturizing treatments frequently. If you want to free your scalp of oily build up brought on by hair solutions or even dandruff, then a more astringent, cleansing remedy will work best . Consider mixing witch hazel with water and using it as being a rinse; lemon juice also works well, as does using apple cider vinegar. Make sure to wash well after using these treatments.

If the dry itchy scalp is actually due to dandruff along with too much oily scales, you will need a little more help unlike home cures can offer. There are various shampoos out there that are effective dry scalp solutions. Tea tree shampoo is actually a gentle solution that contains tea tree oil, which is a natural anti fungal that calms at the same time that it cleans. Nizoral shampoo is a medically formulated shampoo that contains an anti fungal known as ketoconazole that is used in a variety of skin treatment procedures; washing twice a week actually does a remarkable role of getting rid of the scales, then following with a once a week use helps to keep the overgrowth caused by the fungus away.
