ALBANY, GA -- While the Dougherty High practice gym may not have been the best of facilities this season, the Trojan wrestlers have been top notch.

This weekend, the Trojan team will trade mats stuffed inside a portable behind Dougherty Middle School for the Georgia State Wrestling Sectionals in Atlanta. The sectional matches begin Saturday morning. With two wins, five Trojan wrestlers can book their tickets to the Georgia state finals.

Trojans Chris Rapley and Kavasae? Trappier finished first in their weight classes at the AAA-Region 1 meets. Rapley earned his medal at the 152 lbs. weight class. While the senior Trappier heads into Saturday at 138 lbs. ?

?I have to remain number one that's a lot of work. I made it to the top and now I have to stay on top. I'm competing against other people in the state- that's a lot of pressure,? Trappier said.

?I feel excited. I like to wrestle against good competition, but I wrestle every match just like any other,? Rapley said.

Trojan Head Coach Kareem Sanders is also excited. Sanders believes his guys can match up with the state?s best.

?I was surprised last week and I told myself "hey not anymore"?these kids can do it. Nobody can beat you when you work hard,? Sanders said.
