Pilates is an exercise system named after its originator, Joseph Pilates. Mr. Pilates developed this system in the early 1900's to improve his health and to support the health of fellow World War I internees. The Ballerina Arms

Sit cross-legged and straighten the spine as though resting against an imaginary wall. Bend the elbows at a 90 degree angle to protect the shoulder in its socket, take the arms back to connect the shoulder blades. Take the arms down so the shoulder blades slide down your spine and raise the bent arms above your head. End with arms as first started in front of you.
