Panalpina has launched three direct less than container load services from Japan to Singapore.
The new weekly services from Kobe, Nagoya and Tokyo are operated by Panalpina?s in-house carrier Pantainer Express Line, connecting Japan to Panalpina?s global LCL network.
Japan?s exports are mostly driven by the automotive, chemicals and manufacturing industries, at 26 per cent, 19 per cent and 18 per cent, respectively.
Panalpina says Singapore is its most important ocean freight hub for connecting Asia to the rest of the world, and it is the world?s second largest container port.
?
In May the port of Singapore?s volumes reached 2.8 million TEUs, surpassing the previous May record in 2008 by 6 per cent. Compared to May 2011, cargo volumes were up nine per cent.
